How to Get Home Care Paid For

Personalized SC dementia home care for senior woman

Available Options for Getting Home Care Paid For

There are several options available to help with the cost of in-home care services. From local community voucher programs to VA benefits and long-term care insurance, there are resources to make home care more affordable for you and your loved ones. Below are some programs you can take advantage of.

Your Options For More Affordable Home Care

Community Voucher Program: Central Midlands Area Agency on Aging (Richland County)

The Central Midlands Area Agency on Aging offers respite vouchers for unpaid caregivers who provide at-home care for their loved ones. These vouchers can be used to hire approved agencies, such as RetireEase, to assist with daily care, giving caregivers much-needed relief.

Eligibility Examples:

  • Caregivers aged 60+ caring for someone aged 60+ with health concerns
  • Caregivers supporting a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia (doctor’s note required)
  • Grandparents or relatives aged 55+ raising children under 18

Program Details:

  • Funds must be used within 90 days, with possible annual renewal.
  • Applicants may be placed on a waiting list when demand is high.
  • Serving Richland County and nearby areas.

Community Voucher Program: Santee-Lynches Area Agency on Aging (Kershaw County)

The Santee-Lynches Family Caregiver Support Program provides financial assistance to family caregivers.

Program Highlights:

  • Caregivers may receive up to $2,000 per year in assistance.
  • Funds can be used for in-home care services or caregiver supplies, such as incontinence products, nutrition supplements, or mobility aids.
  • Serving Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, and Sumter counties.

RetireEase accepts these vouchers directly, billing the agencies, so there’s no need for family reimbursement.

VA Benefits

RetireEase is an Optum-authorized provider, helping veterans and their surviving spouses access VA-funded in-home care services. We assist with the eligibility verification and the application process, making it easier to get the care you deserve.

Long-Term Care Insurance

If you have long-term care insurance, RetireEase can help you manage your policy, file claims, and use your benefits for personal or companion care services. We’ll guide you through every step of the process to ensure that your coverage helps pay for the care you need.

Checklist off to the side:
